This extremely warm merino top for men features a double-sided construction, allowing it to be reversed to a smooth or ribbed side depending on the temperature and activity level. With a fabric weight of 400g/m², the Aclima Streamwool Crewneck clearly falls into the expedition category, designed for extreme weather conditions. As a thick first layer, it acts almost like a "heater" and is therefore suitable not only for winter sports in double-digit sub-zero temperatures, but is also the first choice for outdoor professional use, as it provides excellent heat retention even during periods of inactivity.
When the ribbed side is worn facing inwards, it creates additional warming air pockets and is recommended in this direction for maximum thermal efficiency. However, during greater physical exertion, the ribbed side is turned outwards, creating a larger surface area and thus a wicking effect for sweat outwards (capillary effect). A thinner insert under the armpits prevents overheating.
