Merino silk underwear "Made in Germany" is what the German family business Engel stands for, paying particular attention to sustainability and skin-friendliness during production.

Engel is a good example of how economical textile production is possible in Germany when most of the work steps are carried out under one roof. Shortening the supply chain also saves transport routes and enables transparency and fair working conditions. Engel also covers the energy requirements for production from renewable energies.

During processing in our own textile factory, only renewable raw materials are used for the natural textiles and care is taken to ensure that they are free from harmful substances by not using any substances that are harmful to the environment or health during the entire manufacturing process.

Engel products are awarded the quality seals NATURTEXTIL-IVN CERTIFIZIERT BEST® and the GOTS® (Global Organic Textile Standard).

The NATURTEXTIL-IVN CERTIFIED BEST® quality mark is a premium label for clothing that has been manufactured according to the highest ecological standards currently available. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the international label for organic textiles, is used to label textiles that also meet the basic requirements at a high ecological level. Only companies that comply with the IVN's strict production guidelines are allowed to label their products. Compliance with the criteria is continuously and seamlessly monitored at every stage of production.

Merino wool and silk form a perfect team, because silk, as an animal protein fiber, is similar to wool fiber in structure and properties. Wool and silk complement each other perfectly in balancing heat and cooling, allowing a very wide temperature range in which the underwear can be worn. The silk also stabilizes the weave structure and makes the fabric mix more robust. Engel Merino silk underwear is particularly soft and skin-friendly and naturally odor-inhibiting. Engel processes organic merino wool from Patagonia (Argentina), which is naturally mulesing-free , as the flies that are the reason for the controversial mulesing practice do not exist there.
