Mons Royale 's headquarters are in Lake Wanaka, New Zealand, a small spa town at the end of the world. This is where the Merino products are developed and tested.
Founded in 2009 by Hannah and Hamish Acland, Mons Royale is still a young company and its functional freeride designs mainly appeal to a younger audience.
The founders both grew up on highland farms and therefore have a natural affinity for merino wool and the New Zealand mountains from which the wool for Mons Royale clothing comes.
Hamish's skiing and Hannah's design background combined with their family roots in farming gave rise to the idea for a fashionable yet functional brand based around this ingenious functional material from nature.
Mons Royale's main focus is on shirts and functional underwear for freeride and snowboarding in winter, as well as outdoor and biking in summer.
Mons Royale sources its merino wool from the Südwolle Group, so that the yarn meets both the strict bluesign® criteria and the OEKO-TEX®Standard100 .
In addition, Mons Royale wool farmers participate in the ZQRX program, which goes far beyond anti-mulesing certification and also focuses on regenerative land management.
When it comes to packaging, Mons Royale almost completely avoids plastic and uses either compostable films or FSC® certified cardboard boxes.
