Icebreaker's Hike+ Light Crew women's merino hiking socks meet all the criteria for year-round hiking, namely comfort, fit, durability, and breathability. This is ensured by features such as support zones in the Achilles and instep areas, an asymmetrical toe box for an optimal fit, and a specially designed toe seam that prevents blistering. Strategically placed padded zones also prevent pressure points. Merino socks provide a dry feeling, especially when used with waterproof hiking shoes, as the wool can absorb a lot of moisture. The skin, which is consequently less softened, is thus much better protected against blistering! This property is particularly important because the membrane pores of waterproof shoes quickly become clogged, as shoes cannot be washed like membrane clothing to clear the pores.
