These extra-warm, knee-length merino base layer shorts for women are a double-sided first layer that can be reversed to a smooth or ribbed side depending on the temperature and activity level. With a fabric weight of 400g/m², the Aclima StreamWool Shorts clearly belong to the top league of warm functional base layers. As a thick first layer, they create a comfortable thermal base in cold-sensitive areas and are therefore not only suitable for winter sports in freezing temperatures, but are also the first choice for outdoor professional use, as they achieve excellent heat retention even when inactive.
When worn with the ribbed side facing inwards, additional warming air pockets are created, and this orientation is recommended for achieving maximum thermal efficiency. However, with greater physical exertion, the ribbed side is turned outwards, creating a larger surface area and thus a wicking effect for sweat to the outside (capillary effect). A seamless gusset is inserted in the crotch to prevent chafing. The soft merino waistband is elastic and yet provides a firm fit.
